Who is Haflidi Fridthjofsson?
Haflidi Fridthjofsson is an Icelandic Technical Fellow, Senior Cloud Solution Architect at Microsoft and a former Microsoft MVP within Azure & Security. He has over a decade of experience in IT, a wonderful fiancé, and two children. Computers and IT have been his hobby since he was a little boy, with his first contact with computers at the age of 4.
His first job experience with computers was in a computer repair workshop where he mostly troubleshot and repaired consumer and business Dell Computers and occasionally Dell Business Servers among other related work.
Haflidi Fridthjofsson worked for almost 3 years in hardware repairs before being promoted to Field Service Technician. While working as a field service technician, Haflidi worked as an on-site System Administrator for customers, moving between companies with different server environments, setups, and problems. His main focus was delivering customer satisfaction by fixing problems, helping end-users with their daily computer usage, installing office equipment, improving computer systems by implementing new solutions, and overall support of multiple workloads in multiple environments. At the beginning of his field service work, he also got to know Office 365. After countless environments were delivered and migrated to Office 365, he was promoted to Team Leader while also working on the architecture, design, and implementation of Office 365 environments. Later, he was transferred to the Microsoft Hosted Services department and was promoted to Team Leader and System Administrator Hosted Services after working for three years in Field Service. He then decided to step down as a Team Leader to focus more on his development in managing hosted server environments both in on-premise Data centers and on Azure Platforms.
In 2018, Haflidi moved with his family to Norway and landed a job as a Senior Consultant in the Infrastructure Talent Community at Avanade Norway. He focused primarily on Azure Infrastructure, Security, and Modern Workplace. Later, he got promoted to Manager and Technical Architect within Cloud and Infrastructure in the Security Talent Community at Avanade, where he focused more and more on Security Solutions and securing Azure Infrastructure.
In early 2023, almost five years after moving to Norway, Haflidi decided that it was time for a change. He was offered an exciting opportunity to join Sopra Steria, Norway’s largest consultancy within digitalization, innovation, and sustainability. There, he used his prior knowledge to find the best solutions for his customers. In the middle of the resignation period with Avanade, Haflidi was awarded a Microsoft MVP within Security for his outstanding contributions to the community. This motivated Haflidi even more to continue contributing and making quality content for the community.
In June 2024, Haflidi was awarded again as a Microsoft MVP, now in two main categories: “Security & Azure,” making him a Double MVP. This recognition highlights his expertise in Infrastructure as Code within Azure and Cloud Security within Security. But now, 1.5 years later, after joining Sopra Steria, Haflidi got the opportunity to join Microsoft as a Senior Cloud Solution Architect within the Customer Success Unit and is now working towards the mission to empower every person and organization on the planet to achieve more. Despite no longer being eligible for the Microsoft MVP award, Haflidi continues his community work with the same passion and dedication, supporting and contributing to the community in various ways.
